Workshops are available on these topics:
- Streamlined Appliqué
This workshop teaches a truly new method of appliqué. An original technique Kandi developed to be the quickest, easiest and most precise method of appliqué there is. There is not any glue or needle turning involved. Novice and seasoned appliqué quilters will love this method. Perfectly smooth curves and circles, as well as precision points are all easily achieved using this method. Appliqué pieces are finished by hand or machine - whichever the student wishes. Class begins with simple items and finishes with an intricate rose in addition to newfound confidence as an appliqué quilter.
Time: 8 hours - Fee: $40 per student with a 10 person minimum, 20 student maximum
Supply List: a short list is mailed in advance and many items are provided by Kandi, including fabric.
- Stained Glass Banners
This workshop teaches quick and easy stained glass. Developed by Kandi, this method makes achieving a stained glass project as easy as A-B-C. There is no reverse appliqué and no need to make your own bias tape. All students finish this class with greatly enhanced color confidence (something every quilter can use a little more of).
Time: 8 hours - Fee: $40 per student with a 10 person minimum, 20 student maximum
Supply List: One stained glass banner pattern from Bee Creek- any of the stained glass banner patterns will work for this class, so choose your favorite with only three exceptions: Freedom, Holy Spirit, and Irish. All the supplies listed on the back of the pattern are required except the sewing machine. You will also need an iron and pad or small ironing surface. A fabric bundle ($235) is required, but can be shared by 4-5 friends.
- Beginner Quilting
This class teaches all the basics. Students learn a balanced overview of quilting, proper measuring, use of a rotary cutter, quilting terms, precision stitching, and matching points. Students will finish a small top by the end of class.
Time: 8 hours - Fee: $40 + $25 kit with pattern per student with a 10 person minimum, 20 student maximum
Supply List: 18" x 24" (minimum size) self-healing mat, 45mm rotary cutter & new blade, 6" x 24" and 6" x 12" Omnigrid rulers, fabric scissors, seam ripper, fine point permanent marker, an iron and pad or small ironing surface, sewing machine, size 11 machine needles + basic sewing supplies, neutral thread, 6 floral fat qtrs- choose all pastel, or all brights, or all "antique-y" (not 30's) floral prints for your grouping.
- Quick & Easy Precision Bindings
This class will teach you the complete machine method of quilt binding. Developed by Kandi, this method takes the drudgery and time out of binding a quilt. This method gives a precise and crisp finish to all your quilts.
Time: 3-4 hours - Fee: $30 per student with a 10 person minimum, 20 student maximum
Supply List: Four mini-quilt sets, 12" 18" squares, a top, batting and backing, cut, quilted and ready to practice bindings. Nine 2 1/4" cut strips, sewing machine, thread to match, basic sewing supplies, a walking foot for your sewing machine, iron and pad or small ironing surface.
Travel, meal and lodging fees will be in addition to the workshop fees.
Lectures:
All lectures are done on a sliding scale with a maximum fee of $375. This is done so that even small guilds can afford to have Kandi come to speak. A complete updated membership booklet or list is required 30+ days in advance of the contracted lecture date to receive the sliding scale rate. Also, one or more workshops must accompany any sliding scale rate for smaller guilds. Travel, meals and lodging expenses will be in addition to the lecture fee.
*Fees are subject to change.
